When Danika Campbell boarded an airplane bound for Kigali, the bustling capital of Rwanda, she had no idea that over the next several weeks her journey and presence there would fundamentally alter the course of hundreds of lives. In fact, at that moment she was mainly focused on getting on the airplane. “I had never been on a plane before, and here I was, setting out on this crazy trip, all by myself,” she laughs. “I was totally freaked out.”
